The International Conference on "China's Urban Development and Open Economy" (Nanjing, China) was successfully held at Southeast University from December 9 to 10, 2023. The conference was co-sponsored by the National Development and Policy Research Institute of Southeast University, the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University, and the International Review of Economics and Finance, and co-organized by the School of Economics of Nanjing University, the School of Economics and Management of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the School of Economics and Management of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, the School of Business of Nanjing Normal University, the School of International Economics and Trade of Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, and the Committee of Regional and Urban Economics of the Chinese Economic Annual Conference. Themed "The Evolution of China's Urban Development and Its Response to Global Economic Change", the conference held eight keynote speeches and invited reports, seven sub-forums, and other sessions, attracting more than 150 experts and scholars from home and abroad to participate online and offline.
Dean of the National Development and Policy Research Institute of Southeast University, Honorary Dean of the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University, Professor Hua Sheng, and Party Secretary of the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University, Professor Yuan Jianhong, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. They introduced the development process, characteristics, advantages, and achievements of Southeast University, the National Development and Policy Research Institute of Southeast University, and the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University to the guests, and invited colleagues from the academic community to visit Southeast University for academic exchange and guidance. Eight experts and scholars from the National University of Singapore, University of Western Australia, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Jinan University, Nankai University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, and Southeast University made keynote speeches on topics such as green certification, population aging, and government debt, the new development pattern of "double circulation", and the evolution and development of urban systems. Seven sub-forums were held on topics such as finance and entrepreneurship in an open environment, urban transportation and regional linkage, urban green development, digitization and regional governance, consumption and welfare, urban industry (including real estate) development, agglomeration, and location selection. This conference provides a good opportunity for experts and young scholars to communicate, helping to achieve new breakthroughs in coordinated regional economic development and make greater progress in building a new urban development pattern and promoting common prosperity.
