On August 29, Academic Salon "Opening up again: Jiangsu's 14th Five-Year Plan Development under the Global Epidemic", jointly organized by Jiangsu Federation of Philosophical and Social Sciences and Jiangsu Strategy and Development Research Center, and hosted by the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University and Jiangsu Macroeconomic Society, was held in the lecture hall of E&M Building of Southeast University. More than 20,000 people, including experts and scholars from the provincial macroeconomic control departments and macroeconomic research, representatives of member units of Jiangsu Macroeconomic Society and teachers and students of Southeast University, shared a feast of ideas from multiple perspectives online and offline. The salon was hosted by Yuan Jianhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University and Secretary General of the Macroeconomic Society of Jiangsu Province.

 Vice Chairman Shang Qingfei, a member of the Party Group of Jiangsu Federation of Philosophical and Social Sciences said in his speech that Jiangsu is a large open province, with a foreign trade dependency of over 40%, and in the face of the huge impact and influence brought by the Covid-19, only with greater efforts to promote high-level reform and opening up again, and strengthen the deep integration with the world, can we turn "crisis" into "opportunity" and "open up again" from a new starting point, and accelerate the transformation from a large open province to a strong open province. It is hoped that at such a special moment this year, Jiangsu play a good advantage of the people and the wisdom of various think tanks to better plan Jiangsu's high-quality development of the "14th Five-Year Plan".

 The first keynote speaker of the salon, Liu Yingjie, former Director General of the Department of Comprehensive Studies of the Research Office of the State Council and Deputy Director of the China Innovation Strategy and Policy Research Center, presented his thoughts on "re-creating a new pattern of opening up" from the national level. He pointed out that Jiangsu should accelerate the creation of an international first-class business environment, accelerate the development of innovation to the middle and high-end international level, and make greater efforts to attract leading talents from home and abroad.

 Lin Kang, Director of Jiangsu Strategy and Development Research Center, made a report entitled "Jiangsu's opening up in the context of the double cycle", proposing six policy recommendations for Jiangsu to undertake international high-end industrial transfer, optimize and upgrade foreign trade, expand the two-way opening of service industry, accelerate the construction of "overseas Jiangsu", improve the level of international logistics corridors and innovate institutional openness.

 Xu Kangning, Chief Professor of Southeast University, Counsellor of Jiangsu Provincial Government, and Vice President of China Society for World Economics, gave a speech entitled "Responding to the complexity of the external environment of economic development with a new open pattern", in which he elaborated from a theoretical perspective that the new development pattern of "double cycle" is not only an effective response to the new situation and environment, but also a long-term development strategy for China. At the same time, he reminded that the main focus of the domestic cycle was not to expand demand for general supply, and not to provide a market for backward production capacity, but to ensure the security of the national economy and people's livelihood, and to create the necessary development environment for high-tech key industries.

 Professor Zhou Kai, Doctoral Supervisor of Nanjing University and Secretary General of China Cultural Industry Development Research Center, analyzed in depth the prospect of cultural and economic integration, innovation and the path to achieve it from the perspectives of policy, science and technology and market on creating a cultural open collaboration mechanism.

 The second half of the salon was an interactive session with guests, hosted by Professor Zhou Kai of Nanjing University. The participants of the online and offline salon activities were concerned about the following issues: what are the main open development indicators for Jiangsu during the 14th Five-Year Plan period; how to integrate Jiangsu into the world upstream and downstream industrial chains under the concept of "world-class manufacturing" open development; how to use the open environment to tap into independent research and development sources; how to use the world's outstanding cultural resources for integrated cultural and economic development; how to use the pilot free trade zone to promote high-level opening and high-quality development in Jiangsu. The experts expressed their brilliant views on these issues and achieved a good collision effect.
