From October 24th to 25th, the "2020 Annual Conference of China Society of World Economics" and the Theoretical Seminar on "The New Pattern of the World Economy and the New Strategy of China's Economic Opening to the Outside World" hosted by the China Society of World Economics and undertaken by Southeast University was held in Nanjing.Zhang Yuyan, President of the China Society of World Economics, Director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Yao Zhizhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Ren Lijian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University, and relevant persons in charge of the China Society of World Economics attended the opening ceremony. Xu Kangning, Vice President of China Society of World Economics and Chief Professor of Southeast University, attended and presided over the opening ceremony of the conference.
In the speech, Deputy Secretary Ren Lijian introduced the long history of Southeast University first and fully affirmed the significance of this meeting.He pointed out that the world economy was facing "great changes unseen in a century", and strengthening scientific analysis of the world economic situation was not only a major theoretical issue, but also a major practical issue related to China's opening-up and development strategy.At the same time, he highly agreed that the China Society of World Economics was an authoritative academic organization in China's economic circles. The convening of the annual meeting of the society was of great practical significance and would make important intellectual contributions to serving the economy and society.
Experts at the meeting discussed and made keynote speeches on topics such as "Major Issues the World Economy is Facing", "Post-Epidemic Trends in the World Economy", "RMB Internationalization", "Building a High-Level Free Trade Zone", and "New Strategy for Opening up".At the same time, the conference released the 2019 annual achievement evaluation and the 2020 annual topic selection of world economic research, which proposed research directions for the development of world economics.More than 150 representatives from scientific research institutes such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce, Bank of China Research Institute, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Xiamen University, Zhejiang University, and Wuhan University attended the meeting.
