From December 4th to 5th, 2020, the 2020 Jiangsu Postgraduate "New Era Economic Development and Fintech" Scientific Research Innovation and Practice Competition, hosted by the Jiangsu Economics Graduate Education Steering Committee and undertaken by the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University, was held in Jiulonghu Hotel on the Jiulonghu Campus of Southeast University. More than 100 graduate students, experts, and scholars from more than 40 universities across the country, including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, gathered in Nanjing to study and discuss the current theoretical and practical issues in the field of financial technology.

In order to encourage all postgraduate students to actively explore the spirit of scientific research issues, the forum organizers evaluated the selected papers and selected 55 first prizes, 25 second prizes, and 26 third prizes. After a brief opening ceremony, the conference entered the keynote speech session of the guests. Jiang Qiao, Vice President of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Jiangsu Branch, delivered a keynote speech on the theme of "Informatization Transformation of Banks". He shared his experience in several aspects, including the overall development of fintech, the application of key technologies of fintech in the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and future development ideas. Vice President Jiang Qiao focused on the application of key technologies such as distributed technology, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, Internet of Things, biometrics, intelligent simulation of digital human technology, etc., and analyzed the future development trend of the banking industry and the intelligent transformation of the banking industry, providing new research perspectives and development ideas from the perspective of industry development.

Professor Wang Zhengwei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University, based on the theme of "Detailed Attention and Entrepreneurship Success or Failure" and analyzed how the degree of detail attention affects financing and entrepreneurial success. The research took the product crowdfunding website Kickstarter as an example. According to Crowdfunding project information, details setting, success rate, and other information, it was found that entrepreneurs who pay more attention to details are more likely to achieve financing goals, have a higher subscription ratio, and have more supporters; their projects are also easier to commercialize; respondents believe that entrepreneurs with higher business knowledge and higher project feasibility pay more attention to details.

Professor Wang Yudong, deputy dean of the School of Economics and Management of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, analyzed the volatility of the oil market from the perspective of big data. Several aspects such as the characteristics and abnormal status of global oil market price fluctuation, characteristics of big data in the oil market, and the specific model of data processing were discussed with the experts and graduate students at the meeting, and relevant opinions and suggestions were given based on the current key issues in the study of oil market price fluctuations.

Professor Cao Jiuxin, deputy dean of the School of Cyberspace Security of Southeast University, started from the research problems of bitcoin address clustering and mapping, and introduced the background of bitcoin and the structure and characteristics of blockchain. The solutions to Bitcoin address mapping and other existing problems have been deeply analyzed and discussed.

On the afternoon of the 5th, the conference conducted a theme report and comment on the selected papers in the form of a sub-forum. According to the theme of the competition, a total of 8 sub-venues had been set up for the competition. The themes included new era energy economy, new era economic development, financial market, investment and financing decision-making, financial risk management, blockchain finance and digital currency, financial technology application and governance, Fintech innovation, and real economic development. The authors of the entries in each venue made wonderful reports, and the participating graduate students actively interacted and communicated with the host of the sub-venue and other participating students.

The success of this competition had witnessed the close attention of postgraduate students to the current economic and social development and hotspots and difficult issues in the financial market. With the theoretical vision of economics and finance and the scientific method of financial technology, they explored the laws behind the problems, research the method to solve questions, which reflected the scientific spirit, academic attitude, and social responsibility of contemporary college students.
