报告摘要和内容:

In this problemwe explore recent advancements in optimal dynamic joint pricing and inventory control for assortments of products with interrelated economic dynamics. We begin by examining the scenario of substitutable productssuch as various breakfast items on a menu or different brands of televisions—sold to price-sensitive customers over multiple periods. At the start of each period, the seller must determine the optimal pricing and inventory replenishment strategies for each product. Unsatisfied customer demands are backlogged, and any remaining inventory is carried over to subsequent periods. The seminar will delve into the complexities of managing these decisions to maximize profitability while maintaining an efficient inventory flow. The demand models employed are linear and based on widely recognized regressive statistical methods. We characterize the optimal value functions for the inventories of these products as submodular and mutually diagonally dominant functions for each period. Additionally, we demonstrate how to derive the optimal joint pricing and inventory replenishment policies efficiently, providing both theoretical insights and practical approaches to address these challenging optimization problems.
